Rooted in traditional Igbo customs and institutions, Obinze Autonomous Community is governed through a structured system that includes the traditional ruler (Eze), Ndi Ichie, Nze na Ozo, age grades, women groups, youth associations, and the Obinze General Union. This inclusive governance structure promotes consultation, consensus, peace, and collective responsibility in community affairs.

Concept of “Aku Rụe Ụlọ” in Igbo Culture
In Igbo culture, “Aku rụe ụlọ” literally means “wealth should come home” or “let what you have gained return home.” Beyond its literal meaning, it carries a deep cultural, moral, and communal philosophy.
Aku rụe ụlọ emphasizes the belief that success, wealth, knowledge, and influence acquired outside one’s homeland should be channeled back to benefit the family, kindred, and community. It encourages sons and daughters to remember their roots, invest at home, support development, and uphold the dignity of their people.
